Placement & Foundation: Position the heavy marble planter on a stable, level surface—such as a reinforced balcony slab, concrete patio, or sturdy plant stand—before filling it, as it will become extremely heavy once loaded.
Drainage Verification: Ensure the marble pot features a properly drilled central drainage hole; if it lacks one, place a thick 2-inch layer of expanded clay pebbles or broken terra-cotta shards at the base to create a perched water table and prevent root rot.
Soil & Aeration: Fill the container with a porous, lightweight mix of standard garden soil, organic compost, and coarse perlite to maintain optimal air circulation around the root system despite the dense, non-porous nature of marble walls.
Watering Technique: Water sparingly and directly into the soil rather than over the rim, checking that excess water drains out completely; marble does not breathe or evaporate moisture through its sides like terracotta, meaning soil stays wet longer.
Surface Protection & Cleaning: Wipe down the exterior marble surface periodically with a soft damp microfiber cloth using plain water or a drop of mild dish soap, strictly avoiding acidic cleaners like vinegar or lemon juice that can etch or dull the stone polish.
Winter Insulation: Shield the marble pot from severe freezing temperatures during winter, as trapped moisture inside the soil expanding against cold stone can occasionally stress or crack natural stone vessels.

At The House of Marbella, protecting your piece is just as important to us as crafting it. Before any product leaves us, it goes through 2–3 layers of quality inspection to ensure it meets our standards. Each piece is then carefully cleaned and individually checked by two different team members before being approved for packing. Once approved, our dedicated packaging team begins a carefully designed multi-layer packing process. The product is first secured with protective thermocol and placed inside an inner box to minimise movement and impact during transit. The inner package is then thoroughly wrapped with bubble wrap and placed inside a strong outer shipping box for an additional layer of protection. Once completely packed, the package undergoes a drop test to ensure that the packaging is ready to withstand the handling involved during transit. Only after successfully passing our quality, cleaning, packaging and drop-test checks is the order cleared for dispatch. From our hands to your home, every piece is packed with patience, precision and care so it reaches you as beautifully as it left us.
